LAPSSET Corridor - Kenya

This is a PSECC Ltd information platform for staff on Kenya and the LAPSSET Corridor and does not represent any official Government of Kenya (GoK) or live projects but has all the (GOK) Policies & Strategies, COP28/COP29 aspirations and examples of what Energy projects can be developed.

The eighteen partners came together in April 2024 to form a development consortium referred to as the “ HORIZON CONSORTIUM” whose objective is to Finance, Develop, and Manage the LAPSSET Integrated Corridor infrastructure and the associated commercial and logistics hubs in accordance with the consortium charter.

Annual electricity generation from 15 GW of Renewable Energy:

15 GW * 30% capacity factor * 8760 hours/year = 39.42 TWh (terawatt-hours)
CO2 emissions avoided:

39.42 TWh * 0.9 kg CO2/kWh = 35.48 million tonnes of CO2 per year
